Dear Valued Customer,

Many thanks for your inquiry regarding the participation of China Ocean Shipping (Group) Co. (COSCO) with the Customs Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (C-TPAT) initiative.

After the terrible terrorist attack on the United States on 9/11, anti-terrorism and physical security issues are being given the highest priority of Federal and State governments. President Bush and the Congress have created a Department of Homeland Security to unify and improve coordination of security efforts.  Into this new department, Customs and Border Protection (CBP), Coast Guard, and many other governmental organizations have been rolled. Additionally, there are many legislative and regulatory efforts underway to improve security. At COSCO, we are working with the authorities and our trade partners to ensure that our security abilities are the best that they can be.

C-TPAT is a public-private program sponsored by CBP designed to improve security in the supply chain.  We confirm COSCO is a certified and validated member of C-TPAT and compliant with the new minimum security criteria which took effect in 2006.

CBP issues each member a Status Verification Interface (SVI) number; ours is chiSea02269. Our company name in the database is "China Ocean Shipping (Group) Co." Our doing business name is "COSCO."
